PALS has decades of experience establishing native trees and shrubs across diverse locations across Western Australia. This experience means that they have practical solutions for difficult terrain or conditions and the skills to provide cost effective solutions to all revegetation projects.
The aim when designing a revegetation project is to have a program that has minimal short and long term maintenance.

Civil revegetation:Gateway WA Case Study

The Gateway Project for WA was the largest road project undertaken by Main Roads in WA. The project was funded by federal and state governments with a budget of over one billion dollars. PALS won the SW proportion of the contract by Gateway WA on Tonkin Hwy, Belmont in 2015.
The planting team carried out revegetation and direct seeding along the widened road corridors, basins and areas disturbed by the road and overpass construction. The project involved storage, planning and planting more than 30 different native trees and shrubs to correspond to the integral landscape plan. This included detailed landscaping patterns including the creation of ribbons of flowering native species with contrasting foliage and flower colours and hillside and basin landscaping.

This work over the 2015 winter months included:

  • The development of a batching program for supply of plants and products,
  • Implementing client specific QA/QC procedures,
  • The installation of over 1000 advanced potted trees,
  • The installation 200,000 tube stock plants,
  • Storage and hygiene control of seed mixes,
  • And the direct seeding of approximately 40 ha of native seed.
Large focal roundabouts planted out with ribbons of foliage and seasonal colour ribbons to soften the hardscaping
Compensation basins planted to sedges and reeds
Large basin batter slopes planted with 100 litre bag speciums to give instant impact
Batter slopes of bridge intersections planted with ribbons of various native species Ranging from different coloured foliage to different seasonal flowering patterns
